5222 Blowers Street, Halifax, NS. "Penny Lane" Community Mural Project
"Penny Lane" Community Mural Project, 5222 Blowers Street, Halifax.

In 2019, I was one of 4 Artists invited to contribute to a community based mural project located in the alleyway at 5222 Blowers Street in downtown Halifax. Organized by Amber Solberg and Dylan Smibert with non-profit society Altruistic Current, the project involved collaborating with members of the public to complete an outdoor mural. Large areas of colour and expressive background elements were blocked in by volunteers during a Community Paint Day. The mural was then completed by the 4 participating artists. (Tabitha Smith, JJ Steeves, Nick Brunt, and Myself.) This project was a lot of fun and it was great to be able to engage with the community to produce an exciting piece of public art. The mural helped transform a deteriorating alleyway into a bright and inviting space. This project was funded through the Downtown Halifax Business Commissions (DHBC)'s Gritty to Pretty Beautification Grant.
